In 2022, Indonesia launched its official digital ID application, Identitas Kependudukan Digital (Digital Population Identity, IKD), which is being used by 11 million Indonesians as of July 2024.

Since its launch in early July 2024, IKD has been employed as an SSO method for log-in and opening bank accounts more than 20,000 times, with a daily average of 700.

The government intends to launch a digital ID, an instant digital payments service, and a data exchange platform that will be launched in the second half of 2024 as the country looks to build a complete DPI ecosystem.
