Zambia’s DPI initiatives are focusing on the implementation of eKYC for identity verification, OpenG2P for efficient aid distribution, and a centralised government portal for central, efficient public service delivery.

The key innovation has been the development of an eKYC platform using MOSIP’s open-source system and e-Signet, with the NRC number serving as the legal identifier.

After a successful proof of concept in April 2024, the eKYC system has now been extended to critical use cases such as emergency drought relief and electronic health records. Zambia has rolled out the OpenG2P platform to manage Government-to-Person (G2P) payments.
