Tim Wood

Tim leads Co-Develop’s global partnerships and strategy for DPI in Health. Tim joined Co-Develop after nine years at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation where he defined digital health investment strategies, worked closely with country partners to implement digital systems, shaped and managed investments, and led global initiatives to coordinate funding across multiple donor agencies. He is a widely recognized and trusted thought leader in digital public infrastructure, catalyzing and co-authoring the Principles of Digital Development and the Principles of Donor Alignment for Digital Health, as well as serving on the board for multiple organizations including Digital Square and DIAL.

Previously, Tim spent 12 years at Microsoft working on software development and 12 years at the Grameen Foundation’s Technology Center. While with Grameen Foundation, Tim pioneered replication of the Grameen Village Phone program, launching sustainable initiatives in Uganda and Rwanda and co-authoring the Village Phone Replication Manual. Tim went on to implement money pilot programs for microfinance institutions in the Philippines and Kenya and initiated Grameen Foundation’s efforts in the health sector. As the Director of Mobile Health Innovation at the Grameen Foundation, he built a team that creating the open-source MOTECH software platform to deliver multiple mobile-phone based service initiatives at scale in India and Africa. Tim has a B.A. in Political Science from Stanford University and spends most of his spare time on a bicycle.
